The peak season for this fishery is January through to mid-May when the Pelagic fish are migrating close into the beaches.
With this annual migration on our doorstep of several Tuna Species; Longtail Tuna, Mac Tuna, Stripped Tuna and Yellow Fin Tuna as well as several Mackerel Species; Spotted, School and Spanish and Trevally species; Golden and Giant (GT’s), finally we have a run of juvenile Black Marlin. The Sunshine Coast really does have some pelagic action set to keep your rod bent.
A full day on the water is 9 hours, departing from the boat ramp at Buddina (on the southern side of Mooloolaba harbour) at 6am. Our boat is a custom built 6.8m Lifestyle boat, ideally set up for fly fishing. Gavin can accommodate 2 fly fishers with plenty of space to move and make the casts safely.
