Gidday [FIRSTNAME]
Boy! the year is really flying and it's already March and before we know it "Easter" will have us all running around on a sugar high… I love chocolate Easter eggs.
This month always has some memorable fly fishing and it`s not unusual to have some great weather as well with early morning offshores and afternoon sea breezes. The recent oil spill has caused quite a bit of concern and the long term effects are still to be seen. However, one of our local fly fishos was out on the water this morning and reported Longtail Tuna north of Mudjimba Island and I have no doubt that there are fish in all the local hangouts. Before cyclone Hamish struck, there were loads of fish right up and down the Sunshine Coast. Longtail Tuna, Mack Tuna, Frigate Mackerel, Spanish and Spotted Mackerel were all in good numbers. We also had a report this morning of a school of small Trevally smashing bait in the Maroochy River mouth. The oil came in through the mouth on Thursday but mother nature and the tide seems to have kept the bulk of it out of the river and has also cleaned up many of our beaches. It is a credit to our Sunshine Coast Regional Council who were on the beach immediately and have done a great job cleaning up.
LONGTAIL TUNA CHASE
Remember that the Longtail Tuna Chase is on again this year. The dates are 28th & 29th March 2009. It`s always a good fun comp and a great place to learn all about chasing the Longtail Tuna with a fly rod. Don`t worry if you`ve never caught one, just come along and enjoy the experience and learn heaps.

PROTECT YOURSELF...
It still feels like summer out there and you always have to be careful of UV damage to the skin. We all wear long sleeve technical fishing shirts like those from Columbia. Fishing shirts are designed to protect us from the harmful rays of the sun, but some of the worse hit parts of the body are our hands. We are now stocking 3 different types of Sun Glove because we think it`s so important. In my opinion, the best (and the ones that I wear) are the Cam Sigler Mariner Gloves. They are very comfortable and are made out of a very light material with a suede insert on the palm for a comfortable grip on the fly rod.

 Priced at just $24.95
We have good stock now so get your order in fast while there are still some left.
FISHING SHIRTS Columbia has recently released two fishing shirts in new fabrics and colours. Light weight and still rated UPF 40, they are perfect for our tropical climate.

There`s a great section on “Carp on Fly” with Peter Morse and another of interest is the section “Stealth in the Sticks” with Shannon Watson & Jason Wilhelm. Even though there is no fly fishing in this one, there is still a wealth of information for those who chase barra in Monduran. Give us a call we also have a good supply of back issues. I’ve collected them all. My favourites are: #7 Marlin on the Flats #12 Bait Balls at Hervey Bay #13 Threadfin on Fly – Peter Morse Hervey Bay
If you don’t have these you`re missing out, they’re good! If you don’t like missing out then ring the shop and order volume 14 today along with the back issues your missing in your collection.
